Think of Mauritius and palm trees, sandy white beaches and crystal clear water all pop into mind. Yep to all of the above, but the food….THE FOOD. For a teeny island the influences and styles are quite phenomenal, ranging from Creole, French, Indian and Chinese. And boy, did I eat. A word of warning however, if you ask for chilli sauce you will get the chilliest chilli sauce in the whole of chillidom.
Yep. That’s me and Marco. It was one of those slightly surreal moments in my life, where I walk into a room and Marco Pierre White is there in his chef whites looking busy and cheffy. Being an avid Masterchef Australia fan, where he comes on for ‘Marco Week’, as soon as he walks through the doors and the contestants just scream and die, I’m pleased I managed to keep my myself together even though I may have internally combusted with excitement at any point.
If you know me, you know I just love breakfast and brunch, so I was super excited to try out breakfast at Lakaz Maman in Southampton. Lakaz Maman, meaning ‘Mum’s House’ does certainly ring true to it’s laid-back and friendly atmosphere. The interiors are vibrant, and it just makes you feel happy being there!
