Welcome to my weakness. Crisps.
After supper, where most people will go for dessert of some description, I will head straight for the crisp draw to satisfy my crunch craving. Usually salty/spicy popcorn, or Walkers Ready Salted with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of chilli (it’s an old Indian man thing, which seems to be passed down to me).
Below are three other crisp ideas…all, on brand, with a little spice.
Cucumber & Cumin
Set the oven on a low temperature (around 140-150 degrees), thinly slice cucumbers, sprinkle on some crushed cumin and season with salt. Spread out on a lined baking tray, and pop in the oven, but keep an eye on them, and turn over at least once. Should take about 1.5-2 hours, depending on how thick the slices are.
Parmesan with Habanero Chilli & Garlic
Lightly grease baking paper in a tray, spoon a heap of parmesan down and lightly spread out or use a biscuit cutter of your choosing to thinly achieve the same thing, but neater. Sprinkle on a small amount of habanero chilli flakes, and some garlic granules/powder. Pop into a hot oven for around 5 minutes. Wait to cool down before attempting to remove from the tray.
Turmeric Potato Peels
Take your potato peelings, drizzle a little oil over them, add salt to season and a pinch of turmeric. Bake in the oven for 15-20 mins until crisp, but turning over at least once whilst baking to ensure even cooking. Garnish with chopped coriander and tiny diced green chillies.
